Bryant Henderson is originally from Sylacauga, Alabama. He has studied extensively as a dancer and choreographer in ballet, jazz, modern, hip-hop, musical theatre, contemporary, and aerial dance. He received his BA in Dance and Public Relations from The University of Alabama. Bryant has worked with the Miss Alabama / Miss America Pageant system as a performer and choreographer, served as a counselor for the American Ballet Theatre Summer Intensive at UA, interned at Broadway Dance Center in NYC, and served as a guest artist at several studios and colleges. Bryant’s choreography has been seen throughout Alabama, appeared at the American College Dance Festival, and in New York City. His work ranges from concert dance to full musical productions. Bryant has choreographed for musicals such as Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Hair, and Wild Party. While residing in New York City, Bryant performed with SYREN Modern Dance, BEings Dance, DEMA Dance, and J. Chen Project in venues including New York’s City Center, The Joyce SoHo, NYC Times Square, and The Baryshnikov Performing Arts Center. Also, Bryant toured the world as a dancer and aerialist for Celebrity Cruises and POET Theatricals, and was a guest artist for the Birmingham, Alabama aerial-ballet company, AROVA Contemporary Ballet. Bryant has been a guest-teaching artist for The University of Alabama and Shelton State Community College, and this last summer, Bryant served as the Assistant Director and Jazz Faculty member for The American Ballet Theatre Summer Intensive. Bryant is currently a Graduate Teaching Fellow and MFA candidate in the University of Oregon’s Department of Dance, and is also a Graduate Certificate Candidate in Women’s and Gender Studies at UO.
